The indicators of roughly-research behavior (RRB) were studied in the «open field» and heart rate frequency (HRF) in male and female rats with the injection of substances that stimulate the serotonergic system (SRS 5-hydroxy-L-tryptophan, 50 mg/kg and fluoxetine, 3 mg/kg) and the dopaminergic system (DPS, L-Dopa, 20 mg/kg and amantadine, 20 mg/kg). Stimulation of SRS causes a sharp increase in HRF (up to 400 or more beats per minute) and a significant decrease in the number of locomotion on the periphery and especially in the center of the «open field», a sharp weakening of the research activity in the form of vertical racks in the center and on the periphery of the «field» in females and males, nevertheless females, in comparison with males are more active in the «open field». The identified changes indicate an increase in anxiety of animals, this may be the result of excessive accumulation of serotonin in the brain and shifts in the neurohumoral regulation of blood circulation, worsening the vegetative provision of behavioral manifestations. Stimulation of DPS was with a moderate increase in heart rate (up to 350-380 beats/min), while the number of locomotion on the periphery of the “field” remains high (more than 20 pcs.), but there is a clear tendency to a decrease in outputs and racks in the center of the “field” in male and female rats, the sexual characteristics of RRB are leveled. The behavior of animals has features of stereotype and increased caution, but signs of anxiety and depressive behavior are weak. Thus, stimulation of the serotonergic system has the greatest impact on behavioral activity and HRF than stimulation of the dopaminergic system. The nature of changes in RRB and HRF indicates antagonism, but in some cases the synergistic effect of serotonergic and dopaminergic mechanisms.

Key words: indicators of roughly-research behavior, heart rate, stimulation and blockade of the central serotonergic system, stimulation and blockade of the central dopaminergic system
