FEATURES OF BLOOD INDICATORS OF BOYS, YOUTHS AND MEN LIVING IN URBAN AND RURAL AREAS OF THE ASTRAKHAN REGION

We analyzed cytological and biochemical blood parameters (red blood cell, white blood cell, and platelet counts, hematocrit, hemoglobin, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), glucose concentration, and plasma activity of liver enzymes: aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanyl aminotransferase (ALT) activity) in 25 boys aged 6-8 years, 56 young men aged 16-19 years, and 39 men aged 35-40 years living in the Astrakhan region, in order to identify their characteristics taking into account age and place of residence (urban and rural environment). Blood parameters in the boys – young men – men series generally demonstrate characteristic age-related changes and vary within known age norms. However, lower red blood cell and white blood cell counts and a lower hematocrit level were found in residents of the region across all age groups, which may indicate better blood rheology and a less stressed immune system in rural residents compared to urban residents. While there are no differences in glucose levels, the activity of both liver enzymes in the blood plasma of residents of the region is lower, suggesting a lower risk of liver damage compared to urban residents.
