In this article, we explore how age-related factors influence how powerlifting veterans cope with stress during competitions. We found that experienced athletes who continue to compete in their later years exhibit increased background adrenal activity. This means that their bodies are in a state of mild "alertness" even during normal times. This condition has two main consequences. Increased Blood Pressure: The constant activity of the adrenal glands contributes to higher blood pressure. Reduced respiratory system response: At the same time, the respiratory system of veterans becomes less sensitive to stress. This may mean that their bodies do not respond as strongly to physical exertion as those of younger athletes. Therefore, age-related changes in the adrenal glands play an important role in how powerlifting veterans cope with competitive stress, affecting both the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

Key words: Glucocorticoid activity, cardiorespiratory system, stress-realizing system, strength training, veteran athletes, powerlifting.
